Welcome to Barefoot in Norfolk. I'm Suki Polson, please feel free to kick off your shoes, sit back and see what we have to offer. Just before you take a look, let me give you a guide to what we make and what you might find. We are not eco warriors but we like to rescue materials and objects. Top of the list is pretty, often vintage, still useful fabric, closely followed by interesting objects that have seen better days. Mr P and myself like to create things from these redundant materials. We never think 'what shall we make?' and buy the materials to make something, instead we see something that can be given a new life and that definitely applies to vintage beautiful fabric. New materials are also integrated for the sake of health and safety ie wadding/stuffing and modern glues and paints. New left-over materials from other projects are also used because we won't waste quality or interesting left-overs.
We have catalogued our objects for sale into 'Seasons'. This seems the most obvious way as it is often the Seasons and their festivals which inspire us most. We also have a page for all those bits that don't fit into any of the seasons, so please check out our Eclectic page for all the miscellaneous delights.
Our newly made and restoration items are one offs, we are not a production line and don't have staff or other makers. Important, please note the needlework items are often embellished with old or unusual beads, buttons and vintage 'bits & pieces', they are not toys or suitable for young children. We work within the law and check that the items we make do not require CE testing.
We live in a small North Norfolk village, close to the coast and we, as well as the treasures we make, are best described as serendipidous.
Serendipitous (adjective) Occurring or discovered by chance in a happy or beneficial way.
